Base Outfitters & Range is more than a store — it’s a dream built from the ground up by our family, with our own hands, hard work, and vision. From laying the foundation to curating the boutique to building a safe and inviting range, every inch of Base Outfitters reflects our commitment to service, family values, and community.
The business is co-owned by Micah and Lisa Uptegrove, along with their son Micah Tyler Uptegrove and his wife Sarah. We opened our doors in December 2022, ready to serve our neighbors in Knob Noster and those traveling along Highway 50—including the Whiteman Air Force Base community.

We proudly support shooters of all skill levels—from first-time visitors to seasoned pros.
Safety is our top priority. From secure, monitored facilities to range rules and hands-on supervision, we ensure a clean, professional, and welcoming space for every guest. We allow pistol, rifle, and AR-style firearms on-site using frangible ammunition, and will soon be offering fully automatic rentals — always supervised by a certified Range Safety Officer.
Solo shooters may not rent firearms for safety reasons. Must be 18+ to rent full-auto.

John Cannon brings over two decades of distinguished military service and firearms expertise to Base Outfitters. A retired Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army, John served 21½ years as a Military Policeman across the globe—including deployments to Bosnia and Iraq—and held roles ranging from Platoon Sergeant and Operations NCO to U.S. Customs Inspector and Instructor.
After retiring, John continued serving his community as a Missouri POST Certified Police Officer before joining our team as Chief Range Safety Officer, Instructor, and full-time Gunsmith. He holds an associate degree in Firearms Technologies, numerous military leadership certifications, and is an NRA-certified instructor in pistol, rifle, and range safety.
John is passionate about safety, education, and delivering precision gunsmith work to every customer.
Base Outfitters includes a boutique hand-curated by Micah and Lisa’s daughters, featuring Christian-themed apparel, faith-inspired gifts, and outdoor-lifestyle fashion. You’ll often find them helping customers or adding new finds to the shelves. This boutique is a heartfelt extension of our family’s creativity and love for community.
